Xenomai: Real-Time Framework for Linux

Xenomai is a real-time development framework cooperating with the Linux kernel, in order to provide a pervasive, interface-agnostic, hard real-time support to user-space applications, seamlessly integrated into the GNU/Linux environment.

Welcome to the wiki of the Xenomai, the Wiki based collaborative platform for all Xenomai real-time platform users.

Roadmap

This document outlines the roadmap of Xenomai from the perspective of the developer team. Concrete steps to future releases are managed on the Xenomai Task Market.

Project History

From an add-on component to real-time Linux variants for emulating traditional RTOS, to a full-fledged real-time Linux framework on its own terms, Xenomai lived several lives already. Find out the major milestones of the Xenomai project since its inception, back in 2001.

Fetching the source code repositories

Xenomai now uses GIT to hold the latest development version and stable maintenance trees; a public read-only access is available. To clone the current development version, use:

git clone git://xenomai.org/xenomai-head.git

To clone the maintenance branch of a given stable version 'X', use:

git clone git://xenomai.org/xenomai-2.X.git

All repositories can be accessed for browsing via a gitweb interface as well.

Support

Two mailing lists are available in order to get some help on Xenomai. If you do not find answers to your questions in the documentation which ships with Xenomai sources or in the FAQ, please use these mailing lists. In case you do not know which mailing list to send your question to, please use the xenomai-help mailing list:

  • Xenomai-help The xenomai-help mailing list handles discussions about configuration, compilation or installation of Xenomai, as well as common usage of its features and interfaces.
  • Xenomai-core The xenomai-core mailing list handles general discussions and development issues about the Xenomai system; in other words, it is the place where all aspects of the Xenomai project's life are debated. Bug reports and patches should be sent here too.
